Although built 40 years ago, it was constructed the same as early Alaskan cabins were 100 years ago. The foundation is gravel and the logs, gathered from around the property, are held together with wood spikes instead of nails.  The logs were “chinked” using moss on the property to seal it from the winter cold.  As the cabin has settled over the years, the main door had to be re-cut to heighten the entrance so visitors would have adequate headroom when entering.  Some of the more recent modifications include a bay window for the kitchen, remodeled bath, and back entry area.  This is a perfect cabin for larger families or fishing parties.  It has a full kitchen, a modern bath with endless hot water,  a washer & dryer and Wi-Fi. Plus it has 2 bedrooms; one with a queen bed and the other with a full and a single bed.  The living room  has a queen hide-a-bed for additional sleeping accommodations.  Plus there is an additional single bed in the mud room for an additional guest.  The "Lodge" has a three day minimum stay.  Click on "Pricing" for current rates.

Kenai River Lodging:  Although not located directly on the  River (across the street), this is Kenai River Lodging at it's finest.

"A Cabin by the Pond", also know as "Moose Munch Cabins" is located in the heart of the Kenai River lodging area.  For those wanting to fish, our cabins for rent are located only one mile from town but still in a secluded area.  The River is located just across the street and we are just ½ mile from a no-fee public fishing area.  Soldotna was voted the #1 fishing hotspot in North America by Field & Stream Magazine in 2004.  Soldotna, Alaska has more river city parks than anywhere else in Alaska and offers over 3,700 ft of elevated fishing boardwalk along the Kenai River.  The River offers world class King Salmon (Chinook), Red Salmon (Sockeye), Silver Salmon (Coho) and Pink Salmon (Humpbacks) fishing, not to mention some of the world’s finest trout fishing.   Soldotna is a beautiful, vital, growing city with a lot to offer to residents and visitors alike. In the summer check out our elevated boardwalks, river fishing, camping, canoeing, kayaking, wildlife viewing, bike trails, and hiking. Those seeking Kenai River lodging, "A Cabin by the Pond" is close in to Soldotna yet has easy access to the  River and still provides the Alaskan wilderness atmosphere that makes your stay awesome.
